What happens when the alarm goes off?
If your alarm goes off, a trained ADT professional will call you or use the 2-way Voice feature on your control panel to verify an emergency, usually within ten seconds. If you don't give a password or if an incorrect password is given, an ADT representative can notify the police or the proper emergency response services. The ADT monitoring center representatives can also tell them which window, door, or motion sensor was triggered, so you don't have to.
Why do I need a landline?
All of the monitoring packages, except the Cellular package, need a landline to work. As of right now, 2-way Voice requires a landline, but in the future, ADT hopes to provide a cellular 2-way Voice option, completely eliminating the need for a landline. So you can get all the features you want without having to pay for a landline.
When I use my phone line, is my service affected?
Nope. The security system can seize your phone line in order to call the ADT customer monitoring center. After contacting the monitoring center, the system can release the line, so a trained professional from an ADT monitoring center can talk to you.
If I lose electric power, will my alarm system still work?
Yes. In case of a power outage, the backup battery will activate to maintain your alarm protection for up to 24 hours. Keep that backup battery charged. If your battery is low, a low-battery signal can be sent to an ADT monitoring center to help remedy the problem.

Having a completely wireless home security system means that there are no pesky wires running through your home and there is no drilling into your walls. You'll be notified immediately if there's an intrusion, flood, or fire, and you can also set custom notifications to let you know when your child arrives home from school or when a service professional (such as a housekeeper) arrives. In a nutshell, you're always aware of what's going on in your home'no surprises.
What is 2-way Voice?
2-way Voice is a hands-free feature that uses your control panel as an intercom, enabling you to speak directly to an ADT monitoring center representative in the event of a an emergency. The microphone is enabled in the event of an emergency and can pick up a normal speaking voice from up to 75 feet away, so you don't have to worry about racing to the control panel.
Will my pet trigger the alarm?
Our sensors are smart. We have a pet-immune motion detector that uses heat sensors to distinguish between animals and humans. This motion detector won't trigger an alarm if it senses any animals weighing less than 40 pounds.
What if my pet weighs over 40 pounds?
If your pet weighs over 40 pounds, installation professionals will work with you to find a solution to fit your needs.

Why does ADT have four monitoring centers?
Many home security monitoring companies only have one lonely monitoring station. But ADT has four monitoring centers: in Texas, Florida, New York, and Tennessee. These centers communicate with each other and can be used as backup in case of power failure. Through this interconnected network, even blackouts and power outages can't stop ADT's record response times.
What if I don't live near an ADT monitoring center?
Never fear. Because signals are received electronically, your home doesn't need to be located near a monitoring center in order to receive 24/7 monitoring. In fact, your home's distance from the ADT monitoring centers has no effect whatsoever on the monitoring services and response times you'll receive..
