But I haven't gotten a phone call saying anyone has broken in so I guess its ok. "I love knowing that my home is being watched over when I am away. Whether it be theft or fire, someone will be there when I can't be. I also feel much safer when I'm home alone. The initial installation appointment was a pleasant discussion on how to best protect my home and family, not a pushy sales pitch. We were able to customize the system so that our dogs wouldn't cause any false motion alarms, but our home would be fully secure. The actual installation of the system only took a minimal amount of time. After a complete demonstration on how to use the control unit, we were comfortable with using it right away. We are very happy with our new system. My only complaint is the cost. By the time we added enough onto the "free" system components to ensure our security, we'd spent well over our intended amount. Of course, no monetary value can be placed on the well being of the ones you love. "

The only complaint I have is ADT can be misleading when you originally place an order and make you feel you are going to receive all this equipment with the big "FREE" package; however, it all comes at a price. The rep spent the first half of the install trying upgrade our package (in a very professional manner) because the basic package is not as "safe" or as "reliable". "

"My home is about 3 years old and was outfitted with a complete ADT package by the previous homeowner. In order to activate the system in my name I was told that I had to purchase $375.00 worth of new equipment in order to qualify for the USAA monthly discount, even thought I didn't need any new equipment. The technician who set up the system somehow disabled my phone system. Customer service had no way to contact him because he did not have voice mail on his phone. After many frustrating calls to ADT customer service I was finally able to get another technician to come to my house and fix the phone problem caused by the first technician. The system seems to be working in a satisfactory manner. I am unhappy that ADT would not give me the USAA discount. Also the set up and activation of my existing system was very distressing in view of the first technician's incompetence. "
