Prior to developing a thriving tourism industry built on the natural availability of outdoor activities and before being crowned Colorado's Wine Country, Grand Junction was an important outpost during the days of the Wild West. In fact, the infamous US Marshall Doc Holliday is from Grand Junction. Today, relics and stories from this time period are on display in the Museum of the West.
